For his outstanding accomplishments as a high school and college teacher, Ben is recognized on the Donors’ Wall of Fame by Steve and Kristy Turner.

According to the Turners:
“Unfortunately, Ben Taylor was never a teacher of ours. In fact, he was a neighbor we barely got to know due to the illness which eventually claimed his life. Yet we chose to honor Ben’s memory in this way because of all the lives he did touch as an educator. Ben was a teacher and coach at Eureka High School, our alma mater, in the late 60s and early 70s. Although Ben and his family had left Eureka by the time we reached high school, we can still remember hearing wonderful stories about Coach Taylor. There was never a doubt that he was a very well respected individual who had excellent rapport with his students and players.

Having been out of the teaching profession for 25 years, it was an impressive tribute to Ben when so many of his former students and players attended his funeral service or otherwise expressed sympathy to his family. That itself spoke volumes about the positive impact he had made on their lives and the lifelong respect he had earned.

One thing we know for sure… Ben Taylor has touched our lives, even in death.”

Ben was a high school psychology and history teacher. He taught at Horton High School in Horton, Kansas from 1961-1966 and Eureka High School in Eureka, Kansas from 1966-1971. Ben also taught at the College of Emporia from 1971-1973.
