For her outstanding contributions as a seventh and eighth grade Speech and Drama teachers, Betty is recognized on the Donors’ Wall of Fame by Emporia Middle School Staff of Emporia, Kansas.
The staff of Emporia Middle School has purchased this brick in memory of Betty McDonald, who was tragically killed in a car accident on January 18, 1996.
Betty taught Speech and Drama at Lowther Junior High School from 1970-1973, and at Emporia Middle School from 1988-1996. For those students who were fortunate to have her as a teacher, they will always remember her enthusiasm and love of teaching! Not only were many excellent and entertaining plays produced under her direction, but many budding playwrights and actors/actresses were also born. She was an inspiration to all of her students.
For those of us who taught with her on a daily basis, we will remember her kindness, her love of dramatically telling stories, and her enthusiasm for life.
Betty will be missed dearly by all of our staff.
