For his outstanding contributions as a counselor, education/collegiate professor, Dr. Butler is recognized on the Donors’ Wall of Fame by the students in the class of 1995, ESU Student Personnel Program of Emporia, Kansas.
Dr. Butler has been a wonderful teacher, an incredible professor, mentor and friend to many graduate students at Emporia State University. He has been a positive and influential person in the lives of both traditional and non-traditional graduate students.
His teaching ability goes beyond the lectures in the classroom. He actively teaches his students by words, feelings, expressions, attitude, and most importantly-by example. Dr. Butler thank you for advising the many student personnel graduates. Your guidance and encouragement gave us confidence to succeed in the world beyond the classroom setting.
He has touched us and countless other with his career in education. He has made a great difference in the lives of students. Of course, behind every good person is a supportive person. Dr. Butler and Judy, his wife, have opened their home many times for Student Personnel dinners and meetings. It was always fun knowing you were going to be a part of the Butler’s history book by signing the guest book. Each visit to their home was a special occasion. No matter how many times you were a guest in their home, you signed the book each and every time because they wanted you to know you were special to them.
Dr. Butler, whose career spanned over thirty years, taught high school, worked as a high school counselor, taught at the University level, and served as an Associate Professor/Chair of Counselor Education.
From the class of 1995, and many other Student Personnel graduates. Thank you Dr. Butler!
