For her outstanding contributions as a grade school (1 through 8) teacher, Evelyn is recognized on the Donors’ Wall of Fame by Osborn Brothers of Emporia, Kansas.

According to the Osborn Brothers:

Evelyn’s dedication to the belief in a sound background in the fundamentals and her ability to inspire students to seek a higher level was something she left with each student. The truth that a good education starts with the primary grades is well established. You can say, Evelyn’s mark is in the minds of her students forever.

Evelyn began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse and continued to teach for 35 years. She taught grades 1 through 8 in reading, writing, and arithmetic at District #43 Central School in Emporia, Kansas. Her other teaching areas included primary, first, and second grades.
