Jason H. Safly began his teaching career in Spencer, IA in 1997 as a long term 4th grade substitute teacher at Johnson Elementary School. He continued as a third grade teacher for two years. He then taught 5th grade in Gilbert, IA for 3 years where he also coached high school girls’ track and field. They They were the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Champions each of those year. Jason began his Kansas teaching career at Overland Trail Elementary School in the Blue Valley School District in 2002 where he taught 5th grade. In 2003, he moved to Harmony Middle School where he taught 6th grade science for 5 years and also coached 8th grade girls basketball. After 2008 he moved to Monticello Trails Middle School in the De Soto School District where he taught Engineering Application to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. He is currently (2015-2016) teaching at Monticello Trails.
Jason’s extraordinary physical size contrasts with his gentle manner toward his much smaller and less physically developed students.
Jason received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1996. He has a master’s degree in school administration from Drake University which he received in 2004.
