Mrs. McLeod feels that only when her students attain new knowledge and find it relevant to their own lives does she feel that successful learning has occurred.
Seventy percent of Mrs. McLeod’s students come from poverty, so she wears many hats – mentor, counselor, facilitator, and sometimes mother or father. Because they know that she is a stable guardian in their lives and that she believes in them and values their opinions, they learn to have confidence in themselves, even when society often stereotypes them.
“Mrs. McLeod truly is the dedicated, creative, and hard-working teacher that all teachers strive to be. Her passion for teaching creates in our students a passion for learning. She truly loves teaching kids to think for themselves and explore things they do not know.”
Jeremy Saegert, Fulton 4-5 Principal
“Martha McLeod seeks to continually extend learning above and beyond that which is required and to make learning fun and exciting to her young students. Her classroom itself is a miniature museum and lab research station, which delights her students.”
Kimberly Clark, Parent of a Student
“Martha has transformed our school into a nature wonderland, and our students are constantly involved in hands-on learning with the ‘real’ thing. Aransas County ISD is lucky to have a teacher like Martha!”
Jan Weekley, Teaching Colleague
