One in a Million

The “One In A Million – Teachers Who Make A Difference” is a nationwide initiative to collect the names of one million teachers who have made a difference in someone's life. Anyone in America can place a teacher’s name into the National Teachers Hall of Fame’s (NTHF) archives with a minimum donation of one dollar ($1).  Donations of larger than $1 are welcome and will result in the following recognition and awards:

  • $1-$9 Teacher's name on NTHF website and displayed on a list in the NTHF
  • $10-$124 Teacher's name on NTHF website and a One in a Million T-shirt (when you review your donation through PayPal, click on special message and note T-shirt size, also add $5 to your donation for shipping)
  • $125-$249 Teacher's name on NTHF Website, t-shirt and a brick on the NTHF wall
  • $250-and above - Teacher's name on NTHF Website, t-shirt, brick on the NTHF wall and an engraved Golden Apple to honoree

If your donation is $125 or more, we would like for you to complete a one page tribute about your special teacher that be included the National Teachers Hall of Fame.  Be prepared to complete that one page form.

PURPOSE

Elevating the teaching profession encourages active teachers to remain in teaching, presents young people with a career option, and rallies everyone to address a critical need for the future of education in this country. 

IMPACT

The impact will have far reaching consequences:

  • Elevate the status of the teaching profession.
  • Reprioritize education to the top of the American agenda.
  • Change the course of education for the future of America.    

CONCEPT

All of us can identify at least one extraordinary teacher who had an impact on our lives. The “One In A Million” initiative asks Americans to thank at least one teacher by archiving his or her name at The National Teachers Hall of Fame. This honors the teacher and preserves a teaching legacy.

CELEBRITY SPOKESPERSON

A nationally known celebrity will be identified to serve as the spokesperson with the expectation of appearing in any PSA or gala event designed to launch the program. The impact will have far reaching consequences:

  • Elevate the status of the teaching profession.
  • Reprioritize education to the top of the American agenda.
  • Change the course of education for the future of America.    

STRATEGY  

  • Gala media event to launch the “One In A Million” initiative.
  • Public service announcements (PSA) to promote the “One In A Million” initiative.
  • Media campaign to build on PSA promotions.
  • Grand finale event to celebrate the successful completion of “One In A Million”.
